Silk Lotion Product Description
One essential step in your daily skin care routine, Kamiya (åŠ ç¾Žå±‹) lotion softens and hydrates your skin. It is formulated with silk and white mulberry bark extract ingredients that gently moisturize your skin but also provides biologically active components necessary for a beautiful skin.
How to use: after washing your face, take the appropriate amount and apply gently on your face until the lotion is absorbed. We recommend using the lotion with Kamiya Cotton Paper.
Cotton Paper Product Description
One Saturday night, I was randomly shopping online and came across Japan Skin, which was having a closing down sale. I guess the stiff competition out there is just wearing them down!Cotton Paper Product Description
Kamiya (åŠ ç¾Žå±‹) Cotton Paper is a premium and highly efficient cotton that you will not want to miss. It has a clear coating on one side preventing the beauty lotion to evaporate and can be applied on your face 3 times longer than a normal cotton puff. And since it is not bulky, it can fit in a small pouch. Perfect companion for an oversea trip!
At 120ml, the Made-In-Japan Kamiya Silk Lotion used to retail for $33.90 but during the closing down sale, it costs $13.90 ( and was marked down to $12.90 as time goes by ). A real steal and I bought it instantly, even though I have yet to try Kamiya range of products before. I also bought their Face Pack Cotton Paper to use it with this lotion. It costs $2.50 during the sale for 50 pieces, marked down from its original $6.90.
Kamiya has a history of nearly 100 years in Kyoto and is always developing new products to the market. Their fox mascot on their packaging is just so cute which reinforced the belief that Japan's packaging always come up tops.
I'm loving Kamiya Silk Lotion for its hydrating ability and the Kamiya Cotton Paper for its excellent moisture retention ability.
As shown on the picture above, the silk lotion is packaged in a sweet and feminine way, with an additional white paper on top of the cap that is tied with an elastic red band. Remove the paper, to reveal an ordinary flick top cap.
The lotion which is lightweight and clear in colour, is dispensed through the small gap and provides hydration to skin. It is a lotion, afterall, so a moisturiser is definitely required after that. It can also be used as a lotion mask too.
I have tried using Kamiya Silk Lotion alone but it does not provide sufficient hydration. My skin was rough and dehydrated the following morning. A moisturiser paired with the Silk Lotion provides excellent hydration ability. My skin was smooth and supple throughout the night till the following morning.
Kamiya Cotton Paper is highly recommended to be used together with the Silk Lotion as they remain moist for as long as 10 minutes, as compared to normal cotton pads. The cotton paper is round and very thin. It may look like it tears easily but it doesn't, unless you use some effort to pull and tug on the paper.
Interestingly, the texture on both sides of the cotton paper is different and due to the lack of description in English, I can't really decipher if the usage for both sides are meant to be used differently.
On the smooth side of the paper, the lotion does not evaporate at all, once its poured on it. In fact, the paper "held" the lotion, akin to a plate. And if one is not careful, those "held" droplets may just roll down from the paper to the floor.
On the other textured side, the paper would be wet with lotion ( after pouring the lotion on it ) for easy swiping or tapping on face.
Using the textured side to to tap the lotion on skin, definitely made my skin feel much smoother and hydrated, as compared to using normal cotton pads. I can attest to this, as I have used both different cotton pads to compare if its worth splurging on Kamiya Cotton Paper.
In a nutshell, its been a good experience using both the silk lotion and the cotton paper and hope that Japan Skin may continue to bring interesting products to our local shores.
