Nature's Gate Body Wash ( Pomegranate Sunflower ) Review

Product Description
Nature's Gate, An invigorating retreat awaits. Our energizing Pomegranate Sunflower Body Wash awakens the senses with a blend of Pomegranate and Sunflower Petal extracts.

I first used Nature's Gate Body Wash ( Pomegranate Sunflower ) back in 2011 with a positive impression and re-purchase it on Iherb this year.

Nature’s Gate is a trusted and responsible choice of hair care and body care for those who are environmentally aware. Natural ingredients are combined with modern science to provide an environmentally balanced approach to shampoos, conditioners, and body wash formulated with no phthalates, PEG, butylene glycol, parabens, sodium lauryl, laureth or coco sulfates.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Nature's Gate Body Wash ( Pomegranate Sunflower ) is housed in a 473ml plastic bottle with a flick top cap. The shower wash with a gel-like texture smells pretty good and lathers well.

How To Use :
Pump a generous amount onto washcloth, sponge or pouf. Lather. Rinse thoroughly.

Performance and Ingredients

Nature's Gate Body Wash ( Pomegranate Sunflower ) left my skin clean without drying or oily after-feel. The refreshing scent was a joy and even though the bottle was large, but it was never cumbersome and the bottle grip was great.

The ingredients had a minor change so I didn't think it mattered much. However, it wasn't the case for my skin. After a week's use, I had random itch all over the body and only after removing the body wash from my regime, did the itch subside.

A month later, I re-use the body wash, and thankfully, no such itch occurred. That said, the body wash left my skin slightly dry after it had been depleted by half so it wasn't a pleasant experience.

Do note that the last 5% of the gel-like body wash became lumpy so some effort was required to get them out of the bottle.

Nature's Gate Body Wash ( Pomegranate Sunflower ) is vegan, paraben-free, gluten-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free and cruelty-free.

Water, cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, sodium cocoyl isethionate, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, glycerin, lauryl glucoside, punica granatum seed oil, punica granatum extract, helianthus annuus (sunflower) flower extract, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, tocopheryl acetate, euterpe oleracea fruit extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, glyceryl undecylenate, phenoxyethanol, citric acid, fragrance.*

*Phthalate free

Where To Purchase : Iherb | Amazon

Conclusion

To conclude, Nature's Gate Body Wash ( Pomegranate Sunflower ) lathers well and left my skin clean, but unfortunately, there was some random itches all over the body when I first started using it, and later left my skin slightly dry, hence it won't be a repurchase.

Review : Nature Gate's Gentle Cleansing Lotion

Product Description
Our incredibly gently cleansing lotion helps melt away the grime of the day without effort. Dirt and oil out; dewy softness in. While Yucca and Rose Geranium get skin refreshingly clean, Safflower, Aloe, Jojoba and Shea Butter prevent dryness and tightness. Clary Sage and Cucumber keep the mood mellow, while Peppermint adds an uplifting experience for the senses. Clary Sage is a biennial plant with three-foot stems, compact blooms in white, light blue or lilac, and velvety, pungent leaves. Also known as Clear Eye, the distilled flower and leaf water relieves irritated eyes. The essential oil is used for perfumes and seasoning. Dried, it is found in teas and potpourri. With aromatherapy, Clary Sage is a powerful relaxant that reduces stress and fatigue. Historically, the herb also helped calm asthma and digestive problems. In our luxuriously rich cleanser, Clary Sage brings comfort to skin, leaving it amazingly soft and free from impurities. Easily dissolves dirt, oil and makeup; Highly emollient, skin-balancing formula; Helps soften, soothe and rejuvenate skin. Paraben-Free. Cruelty-Free. Made with Certified Organic Botanicals.

And so, I bought my very first natural cleansing lotion, from Nature's Gate via iHerb at US12+, compared to the highly marked-up version in Guardian. The glass type packaging does look fragile, especially since I usually place my cleansers at the top glass cabinet in my bathroom.

This cleansing lotion supposingly to be gentle for the skin made my skin worse and I never hate a product as much as this. It made me wonder why I even bother to keep trying. Because I did. I wanted to confirm that its the cleanser. I still have about 75% left in the bottle and I told myself that there is no point trying anymore because its horrible. Period.

It comes in a pump dispenser stored in a transparent glass bottle. I usually pump several times to get the white milky contents out and massage on the face before rinsing off with water. The first week after using it every evening left a red patch on my right cheek that wouldn't go away. The red patch was warm, itchy, red, raw and dry. I have developed an allergic reaction to it! Zits were formed on my chin and nostrils. Several hydrating and moisturising masks just wouldn't make the patch disappear though my zits did disappear with my blemish gel. Left with no choice, I went back to my favourite brand - Avene and bought their cleansing water and thermal water.
After a week of using it religiously, my skin finally calmed down and went back to normal. The whole experience took me 3 weeks. ( During the initial 2 weeks, I have been trying different masks but to no avail ).

So what did I do once my skin calm down? I went back to using this horrible cleansing lotion again, but on alternate days. This time round, it left my skin in eczema-like patches on the face. Cold sores symptoms near the lips, at both ends. Red flaky and gruffy skin around my nose. Itchy and dry patches between my eyebrows.
I stopped using it for several weeks for my skin to recover and then used it just once this week and all the bad patches came back. Totally hate myself. For something that earned itself a 4.5 at Makeupalley and the positive reviews on iHerb, I never thought it would be this bad. My first natural product as a cleanser. My first skincare product from Nature's Gate. ( I used its deodrant and haircare products before) . Horrid experience.
It did remove my make-up but nothing spectacular about its performance.

If there's anyone who would like to try this product or have no issue with it, feel free to email me or leave a comment. You can pick it up from me at no charge. Its hygenic enough due to its pump dispenser and the packaging is still intact.

Product Description
Moisturize dry, damaged or chemically-treated hair with Organic Chamomile and Marshmallow Extracts. Organic Jojoba Oil, Horsetail Extract and Panthenol(Vitamin B5) help protect hair against breakage, while gently detangling. Hair is healthy looking with shine and vitality.

Bought both Nature's Gate Chamomile and Lemon Verbena Shampoo and conditioner at a good price in September last year and have been using them for the past 2 months or so. Seemed like the products are not very popular, judging from the pathetic score of 1.5 from 2 users at Makeupalley and its conditioner received a score of 3.2 from 5 users. So lets see if I like them, shall we?

I pretty much like the conditioner packaging, which is simply a flick-open kind of bottle opening. Easy and convenient, without any messiness. However, I dislike the opening for the shampoo which is commonly used for hair products. The small press-and-open opening meant that sometimes, the contents get stuck and you have to open the cap. That can be kind of frustrating at times.

The scent kinda threw me off, the first time I used it. Simply awful. However, 2 months down the road, I have sort of got used to the scent and is using both products without any problems. The scent of the conditioner is slightly stronger than the shampoo itself.

Made in USA, both their products have no pthalates/parabens, no sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates, no animal testing, no animal by-products and are made with certified organic botanicals. And at $11.90 for 354ml, it certainly sounds like something which I would try out.

The shampoo lathers pretty well but somehow, I felt that its drier than most shampoos I have used before. Its not something which you get it during the first usage, but rather over time. Since its formulated for dry and damaged hairs, I would expect it to be more moisturising. Thats the whole purpose, isn't it?

After each shampoo cleansing routine, my hair felt like straw. The squeaky-clean feeling vibe. Not excessive but just slightly. Its like it over-cleanse my hair and the after effects, is leaving it more prone to tangled hair. I definitely need its conditioner to soften my hair. But still, the overall experience has been less than pleasant. The conditioner did soften it, but the overall condition of my hair feels drier than when I am using other hair products.

I am not getting the shine and vitality that I am supposed to get, just well-cleansed hair. When I brought it over to the winter season for use, it left so much dandruff on my hair that I am aghast.

I am concurrently using another conditioner for coloured hair from another brand but unfortunately, Nature's Gate Chamomile and Lemon Verbena Shampoo did not work too well with this conditioner where my hair looked and felt even worse. It worked better with its own conditioner, Nature's Gate Chamomile and Lemon Verbena Conditioner.
