Josh Rosebrook products have been on my radar for the longest time but since its not widely available in retail and there are no samples for me to try out, I have been hesitant in ordering it, until An Uplifted Day came along and provided samples with any purchase.
I requested for a complimentary Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30 ( Tinted ) which came together with my order of other skincare products. Josh Rosebrook is the founder of his own products labelled with his name, and his products are popular among the green beauty community. I don't think I ever heard how bad his products were, only raving how good they were. Curious?
A little bit about the brand and its founder, which I usually do, for my every first foray into a new brand. Josh Rosebrook actually started off as a hair stylist but is now famed for his skincare products as well. Their products are said to be 100% organic, certified organic or wild-crafted. They do not contain parabens, sulfates, silicones, petrochemicals, GMOs, synthetic fragrances and artificial colours. A low amount of naturally occurring food grade Potassium Sorbate ( salt of sorbic acid ) is used as the preservative to prolong the shelf life of the products. As a creamy tinted formulation, Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30 ( Tinted ) can be used as a day moisturiser, a non-nano zinc oxide sunscreen, a primer or a light foundation. As far as I am concerned, I prefer to use it like a BB cream. I still use a moisturiser and a sunscreen prior to applying the Tinted Day Cream. It acts as an additional SPF protection as well as to even out my skin tone, to make it look naturally better. Thereafter, I will apply RMS Un-Powder.
To be honest, I did not like it as much as I like the creamy texture from my all time favourite BB Cream - VMV Hypoallergenics Skintangible "Faint"ation BBBB Cream initially, when I use it on my face.
It just does not glide as well as I thought it should, judging from the creamy lotion-like consistency. It is not as creamy and as thick as VMV Hypoallergenics BBBB Cream but instead, is alittle runny. But for those who have never tried the BBBB Cream, you would probably be happy with the application of Josh Rosebrook Tinted Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30.
Adding on to that, my skin tends to turn red ( all around the nose to cheeks ) and hot with applying Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30 ( Tinted ) after Josh Rosebrook Active Infusion Serum and Josh Rosebrook Vital Balm Cream. The sensitive reaction was totally unexpected, considering that all 3 products came from the same brand. I have no issue with using the Nutrient Day Cream with my regular skincare products or with the Vital Balm Cream alone so I can only guess that the reaction may have resulted from the inclusion of the Active Infusion Serum. It took about 15 minutes for my skin to calm down from the flushed redness.

That aside, in terms of ingredients, they are indeed superior in every aspect. Josh Rosebrook takes his products seriously. They are ingredients you know of or heard of, not ingredients with weird long names which you have never come across.
The coverage is minimal, so for those who are concerned about its barely-there coverage, you can use it as a primer, day moisturiser or sunblock. The choice is yours. For me, I like the minimal bare make-up look, so this Tinted Nutrient Day Cream is suitable for me.
As a tinted day cream, it evens out my skin tone, giving it that natural and slightly dewy look and boasts of superior ingredients that protects against UVA/UVB rays, soothes and hydrates the skin.
As a sunscreen, the lightweight and non-greasy formulation is a bonus. There is no white cast and the hint of coverage that comes with sunscreen protection is most welcomed for those who does not like to apply too many layers.
However, in humid Singapore with summer weather all year round, just applying Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30 ( Tinted ) alone, as sun protection is not enough. An additional sunscreen is still highly recommended!
