Lala Retro™ is a whipped dream-come-true for tired, dry skin. This multifaceted rescue cream, infused with six African oils and a plant ceramide complex, provides replenishing barrier support by reinforcing skin’s acid mantle and defending against the effects of everyday stressors. Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer easily soaks in to release intense hydration. In addition, antioxidant-rich fermented green tea helps combat signs of aging. Loaded with omega acids, Lala helps skin retain long-lasting moisture,
forming a protective layer that allows skin to function at its optimal level.
I was elated to redeem a 5ml sample size of Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream with my Sephora points last year as I have been eyeing it for awhile. Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser was the only DE product I have tried so far.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
The 5ml sample size comes in a cute tub with a subtle sweet scent that probably stems from its ingredients. It has a soft whipped airy buttery texture with a velvety consistency.
How To Use :
Apply a pump of Lala Retro™ anytime to clean, dry skin. Mix with any Drunk Elephant serum or oil as part of a total skincare solution.
Performance and Ingredients
Formulated at an ideal (and skin-friendly) pH of 5.2, Lala Retro™ has the luxurious texture of a rich face cream without feeling suffocating or heavy. Vegan and cruelty-free. Free of Suspicious 6 (Essential Oils, Drying Alcohols, Silicones, Chemical Screens, Fragrance/Dyes and SLS) that they suspect disrupt skin health and are the root of almost every skin issue they see.
My skin never take well to facial oils so initially, I was worried about how Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream might left my skin greasy, considering the amount of oils in it. Thankfully, while the cream did left a subtle light sheen on skin, it wasn't a major issue.
The Whipped Cream has a soft airy buttery formula with a velvety consistency that felt calming and soothing on skin. It is emollient and would be great for dry skin. Absorbs well and left my skin soft and smooth the following morning.
However, it isn't the perfect fit for my combination with surface dehydration skin type. On regular days, I can get away with using this, however at night, if I sleep in an air-conditioned room, my skin would have a lack of moisture. Considering the price, I think I would expect a better performance, that is, to deliver on all fronts.
And if you are wondering if Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream is safe for pregnancy, I would recommend not to, because of the inclusion of Phenoxyethanol, which according to Mustela, can cause toxicity, with effects on the brain and the nervous system even at moderate concentrations. If in doubt, always check with your gynaecologist.
The key ingredients are....
