This was my last set of sheet masks purchase as I wanted to focus more on rinse-off masks to be more eco-friendly. But fret not, this won't be my last facial mask review post yet, as I still have more to deplete in my stash, which probably can last till end of the year.
Hailing from Korea, Sulmae started back in 2017 with these pretty innovative sheet masks that act like pretty stickers on the face. You can check out the history of the brand on their website.
Sulmae Cherry Blossom Maskbook Sticker Mask Sheet uses lovely cherry blossom extracts and mild vegetable essence to soothe skin by restoring moisture.
In the package, there was a plastic sheet with 12 sweet and pretty flower petals stuck on them. Just peel them one by one and layer it on the face.
The material of the cherry blossom patches is tencel, a cellulosic fiber regenerated from Eucalyptus Wood which is more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk so that it is able to provide more essence to skin effectively.
Unfortunately, I can't describe the scent as I was still recovering from Covid-19 and my sense of smell wasn't back yet.
Scent aside, I love how innovative, pretty and convenient these patches were, although I was expecting the colour to look more like what was illustrated on the packaging. You can place the patches on your face, neck or arms as per description. They were cooling and refreshing, definitely much welcomed in humid weather like Singapore.
However, there was a taut sensation 5 minutes into the masking session although once removed, the taut sensation was gone. Sadly, I couldn't see any difference before or after masking.
Sulmae Watermelon Maskbook Sticker Mask Sheet is formulated with watermelon extracts and vegetable essence to provide a boost of deep moisture and soothe skin.
Using the same tencel material, the 12 watermelon patches which consists of a mixture of large and small sizes are soft and comfortable with a sweet watermelon scent.
They are cooling and refreshing which offers a cool respite in summer weather. There was a slight taut sensation 10 minute into masking but gone once the mask was removed. My skin looked brighter.
Sulmae Strawberry Maskbook Sticker Mask Sheet consists of pure strawberry extract and vegetable essence to help revitalize skin.
It has a sweet strawberry scent that smells like the real thing that you almost thought these patches might be edible. The 12 pieces of strawberry patches are so cute that I believe they would be able to provide fun and bonding sessions between a mother and her daughter.
The same tencel material provides a comfortable fit and my skin was moderately hydrated with a slightly smoother feel.
Sulmae Aloe Maskbook Sticker Mask Sheet combines fresh aloe extract and vegetable essence to provide a boost of deep moisture and skin improvement.
Consisting of 20 aloe shaped patches, they looked rather odd and not as aesthetic-pleasing as the rest, however the shape makes a good undereye mask. It has an artificial scent which I don't fancy
Although cooling and refreshing, the patches dry out pretty fast and my skin felt slightly dry after 15 minutes. Overall, my face felt slightly smoother.
Sulmae Rose Maskbook Sticker Mask Sheet provides deep moisture and vitalizing with its use of pure flower extract and vegetable essence.
This is the prettiest mask of all where the 12 rose patches of 3 different sizes are so alluring and gorgeous. It has a subtle perfumy scent which may not be a hit for everyone.
The moistness of the patches evaporates so fast that I have to quickly remove them by the 15 minute mark. My skin felt slightly parched after removing the patches but looked clear, bright and felt soft and smooth.
Conclusion
To conclude, Sulmae Maskbook Sticker Masks Sheet were pretty to look at, but its more gimmicky than effective. They don't provide substantial benefits to skin and dry out fast, leaving some parched sensation on skin.
However, I have to admit they do make good gifts for friends and can generate pretty fun moments on Instagram and Tik Tok though.
