5erenity2 Renew Mask was the first product I had wanted to purchase from 5erenity2 as I enjoyed using facial masks but I later realized its an overnight mask which wasn't my intention, although it can also be used as a rinse-off mask.
Other than using overnight masks during my overseas vacations, I generally don't like to use them in hot and humid weather in Singapore, especially since I don't sleep in an air-conditioned room at night, unlike others. However, I am surprised by how much I love it in the end! Lets delve down to read how the overnight mask actually works for me under humid weather, shall we?
Packaging, Scent and Texture
5erenity2 Renew Mask comes in a 30ml glass jar with a calming herbal scent. Unlike other overnight masks, this has a lightweight texture that is absolutely great as the last step in my skincare routine in humid Singapore.
How To Use
1) Apply a thin layer of mask evenly across clean face, avoiding the eye area.
2) Leave on for 15 mins for a quick recharge, or
3) Leave overnight as sleeping mask
4) Rinse off with warm water. Use once or twice a week.
Performance
Proudly made in Singapore, Renew Mask is formulated with carefully selected Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbs, natural plant extracts and powerful anti-oxidants, this nutritious yet gentle mask repairs damages caused by free radicals and harmful sun exposure. Easily absorbed by the skin, it boosts collagen production so fine lines and wrinkles are diminished over time. It is said to replenish lost moisture and lightens dark spots to give a radiant glow over time and brings out your natural beauty.
Suitable for all skin types especially dull, lifeless, dehydrated skin, pigmented skin or skin that starts to show premature aging, 5erenity2 Renew Mask does not contain scent, parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
As mentioned before, I am not a big fan of overnight masks except during overseas vacations as I dislike layering too many products at night. Overnight masks tend to be too heavy for my combination-dehydrated skin in humid Singapore, however, I changed my mind after using 5erenity2 Renew Mask for the past 3 months.
Meant to be used 1 ~ 2 times per week, I actually loved it so much that I used it daily for a period of time and was sad that its almost depleted now.
As an overnight mask : 5erenity2 Renew Mask has such a lightweight texture as an overnight mask, which was such a joy to be used as the last step in the night routine, without the heaviness or greasiness as some other overnight masks.
It is slightly more hydrating than the Renew Serum but not enough to replace a moisturiser which is expected. Overall, it made my skin so soft and smooth after applying toner, serum and moisturiser.
As a rinse-off mask : 5erenity2 Renew Mask can also doubled up as a rinse-off mask but I personally think its such a waste to use it as such, especially with such a good set of ingredients and with only 30ml of contents.
No matter how thick it was, the mask gets absorbed into the skin within 5 minutes of layering on face ( for my skin type ) and once its rinsed off, Viola! my skin looked significantly brighter and glowing. So if you need an emergency pick-me-up mask, this is it!
Ingredients
In terms of ingredients, 5erenity2 Renew Mask contains the following
Coconut Oil : To moisturize, soothe the skin and improves skin barrier function. Also contains anti-inflammatory properties. ( Research Studies published here and here )
Panax Ginseng Root Extract : To rejuvenate the vital energy, blood and body fluid that is so essential to reduce the rate of skin degeneration, nourish the skin, reduce wrinkles and promotes smooth skin growth.
Niacinamide : Boosts collagen production, strengthens skin, helps your skin retain moisture for longer and accelerates skin cell turnover, resulting in younger, healthier skin. Niacinamide or Vit B3 is a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient. It is most effective for skin when used topically, strengthening cellular bonds and tightens skins thru repairing the skin barrier. It has the ability to visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and dullness.
Hyaluronic Acid : Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that has the ability to attract and hold huge amounts of moisture. As we age, our skin loses the ability to maintain moisture. This results in visible loss of firmness and our skin looks less plump and supple. Hyaluronic acid helps retain collagen, provide elasticity and revitalizes the skin’s outer layers so they look and feel softer, smoother and hydrated, instantly improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Poria Cocos (Fu Ling) Extract : To alleviate conditions of freckles, melasma and shown to have whitening properties.
Angelica Polymorpha Sinensis Root (Dong Quai) Extract : Increases circulation, improves complexion, and aids detoxification to clear blemishes.
Bletilla Striata Root (Bai Ji) Extract : Bai Ji has been known as a beauty herb since the use in TCM. It is known as “whitening fairy” for its whitening properties. It is also used for acnes, boils and repairing of scarring tissues because of its healing properties.
Paeonia Lactiflora (Bai Shao) : Helps in treating melasma, rough and dull coloured skin conditions.

Conclusion
To conclude, 5erenity2 Renew Mask is a great overnight mask with a lightweight texture that is suitable for humid weather like in Singapore. That said, it may not be a hit with those who prefer rich and nourishing overnight masks.
It left my skin soft and smooth as an overnight mask and brightens up my complexion as a rinse-off mask! The price is reasonable and definitely value for money when you can use it both ways!
