[ Review ] : The Skin Firm Natural Micellar Water

Review for Skin Firm Micellar Water
Product Description
Melt away makeup and impurities from all skin types - including sensitive skin. Go loco for this coco-infused, super-natural micellar water, which also corrects makeup boo-boos, fights blemishes and moisturises. Clinically and dermatologically tested for safety and non-irritation.

Always keen to support local, I promptly purchased The Skin Firm Natural Micellar Water when I noticed micellar water on their listing which has always been an essential step of my skincare routine. Check out my review on The Skin Firm Long Wear Daily Sunscreen SPF40 PA+++.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Skin Firm Natural Micellar Water - Singaporean Brand

The Skin Firm Natural Micellar Water is housed in a clear plastic bottle with 200ml of contents. It exudes a simple and minimalistic vibe. Clear in colour, the Natural Micellar Water has a extremely lightweight texture and does not contain any fragrance but has a light scent which reminded vaguely of the signature scent in Caudalie products such as Caudalie Moisturizing Toner.

How To Use
Saturate a cotton pad with micellar water and gently press onto skin to dislodge impurities and makeup. Lightly swipe right, left, or any other direction you like for squeaky clean, hydrated skin.

Performance and Ingredients

Made in Thailand with no PEG, alcohol, sulfates, parabens, fragrances, phthalates and animal testing, The Skin Firm Natural Micellar Water is also 99% natural.

When I first started using the product, I was surprised that my skin reacted to it as I have never ever reacted to any micellar cleansing water before. The area around my nose was taut, turned red and felt warm immediately after cleansing with it, prior to using my regular cleanser.

The redness started to spread to the upper lips area, beside the cheeks and up to between the brows. It basically looked like my T-zone area was on fire - red and warm.

The Skin Firm Natural Micellar Water usually acts as my first cleanse, before I proceed with Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs as my second cleanse and I did not introduce any other new skincare product during the time I was using Natural Micellar Water. One of my skincare rule is to only introduce one new product at a time to my skincare routine to minimize any irritation.

For someone who don't give up on her skincare products easily, I tried to eliminate the cause by switching products prior to it, thinking that perhaps there could be some conflict but unfortunately, the result was still the same.

That said, the skin reaction did not happen each time although it happened most of the times during the initial one month of usage and subsequently the skin reaction was significantly reduced. I used up the product in about 2 months with daily usage.

It was an effective makeup remover where it removed my sunscreen and the occasional face/eye makeup. More cotton pads were required to remove mascara but that is expected from micellar water.

My skin was also very soft and smooth after each cleanse which was probably due to Lactic Acid.

That said, I am surprised that the product does not have any PAO ( Period After Opening ) symbol which is an indicator of the shelf life of the product after opening it. Perhaps it is not mandatory in Singapore. However, it does have the Lot Number, Manufacturing Date and Expiry Date.

In terms of ingredients, I really like the fact that The Skin Firm Natural Micellar Water only contains 8 ingredients in the list. If not for my skin reaction, I really do think that this could be a gentle makeup remover for sensitive skin with such a short ingredient list.

Aqua (Water), Methylpropanediol (organic glycol), Sorbitan Oleate, Decylglucoside Crosspolymer (100% naturally derived from coconut and other plants), Sodium Benzoate, Glycerin, Potassium Sorbate and Lactic Acid (gentle AHA)

Conclusion

To conclude, The Skin Firm Natural Micellar Water is a gentle makeup remover with a short ingredient list. My skin is always so soft and smooth after each cleanse, however, my skin reacted to it every now and then, hence I can't recommend it to those with very sensitive skin and I won't repurchase it. That said, every product reacts differently for every skin type so it does not necessarily meant that your skin would get reacted to it, like mine.

My favourite micellar water would still be Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micelle Solution. How about you?
