[ Review ] : May Coop Morning Dew + Raw Sheet Mask

Made in Korea, May Coop is a skin care line that uses the natural and safe maple tree sap as its main ingredient. It replaces plain purified water in most skincare products with the 100% maple sap. Loaded with nourishing and revitalizing nutrients and high absorption due to the smaller size of its molecules ( particle size of maple sap(86Hz) is very similar to that of human body fluid(80Hz), resulting in powerful permeability of the skin ), May Coop stormed the Korean beauty market by its naturally found crystal of beauty, as featured on Korean’s #1 Beauty Show Get it Beauty.

As the maple tree sap is collected in the spring for maximum potency, hence the "May" in May Coop.

May Coop uses only natural ingredients without any artificial and chemical synthesis. They promote saving the environment that produces 100% pure natural moisturiser which can be made from nature.

I was intrigued by May Coop for a while and subsequently purchased a bottle of May Coop Morning Dew Mist and a pack of May Coop Raw Sheet Masks.

After positive experiences with Dr. Seed Honey and Seed Moisture Body Washes, I purchased their shampoos several months later. Unfortunately, it seemed that Waseyo no longer carry the 500ml retail sizes, with only 100ml travel sizes remaining.

Made in Korea, Dr. Seed is made of safe ingredients where the whole family can use without worries as they do without 20 kinds of harmful materials which you can refer below. The shampoos contain natural originated ingredients such as seed extract and natural oil and are manufactured at ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facility.

There are 10 variants of the scents and I purchased Fresh Green and Iris Sherbet.

Dr. Seed Super Seed Bomb Revitalize Shampoo comes in a 500ml bottle with a pump nozzle that dispenses the shampoo for a good cleansing of the scalp and hair. It lathers and gives rise to loads of foam.

"Fresh Green" scent is described as clear dew with a mixture of fresh citrus, refreshing green tea and moist oakmoss scent. To me, it smells like fresh green leaves and is rather subtle.

I didn't like Iris Sherbet as a body wash as the scent was alittle too cloying for me, but it was fine as a hair shampoo scent. 

I started using Fresh Green first and a year later, I used Iris Sherbet, however the experiences were vastly different. I believed my hair condition played a big part since both shampoos were the same, except for the scents. 

Dr. Seed Super Seed Bomb Revitalize Shampoo ( Fresh Green ) was rather moisturising initially and I can actually do without conditioner. My hair was rather soft and smooth, however after about 50% down the bottle, I noticed that my hair started to get drier, so much so that even my regular hair stylist commented that I should not neglect hair conditioning as it was dry and tangled with kinks. My hair also started to get more frizzy.

After adding in a rinse-off conditioner, my hair condition started to improve slightly.

A year later ( June 2021 ), I started using Dr. Seed Super Seed Bomb Revitalize Shampoo ( Iris Sherbet ) but it caused more hair fall ( found in the bathroom drain, while air-drying and when dried ). Every time I ran my fingers through my hair, more hair strands came off. I also noticed more hair in the bathroom drain after shampoo-ing. My hair was clean but slightly drier and had more hair kinks after using the shampoo. 

Thereafter, I added on Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Coconut Hair Oil and it had helped improve the condition. I used it prior to shampoo-ing my hair and noticed a difference. Stronger hair strands, lesser hair fall and less drying. I might try with regular coconut oil once this travel-size is used up and see if I get the same effect. 

According to Waseyo, Dr. Seed Super Seed Bomb Revitalize Shampoo was selected as the 2018 KBA Beauty Award Winner for Natural Shampoo and was also the 2018 hit item by "Money Today" for Natural Shampoo and Treatment.

In terms of ingredients, the Revitalize Shampoo uses natural-originated nonionic surfactant which is said to be the safest for skin - Coco-glucoside ( Coconut Oil ) and Lauryl Glucoside ( Corn/Potato Starch ).

To conclude, Dr. Seed Super Seed Bomb Revitalize Shampoo ( Fresh Green ) may be a hit for those with oily hair. It is a decent shampoo for the price and the natural ingredients. Drier and frizzy hair is a deterrent for me so I won't repurchase Dr. Seed Super Seed Bomb Revitalize Shampoo ( Fresh Green ) for now.

Dr. Seed Super Seed Bomb Revitalize Shampoo ( Iris Sherbet ) caused more hair fall and it won't be a repurchase. Coconut Hair Oil prior to shampoo-ing the hair helped to improve the hair condition.

Chanced upon Make P:rem Comfort Me Air Mask when I was in Korea so I decided to purchase one sheet to try. I was hoping to check out their sunscreens but unfortunately, I didn't manage to find it.

Make P:rem Comfort Me Air Mask has a strong perfum-y scent once pulled out from its packaging and lingers throughout the masking session.. The material is thin and very light like air, making one feel that you have forgotten that you are wearing a mask.

Due to the thin material, the adherence is very good. It has a good cutting with slight excess cloth near to the jaws. There was no drippy messiness. It felt very soothing and relaxing.

After a 20 minute masking session, my skin was visibly calmed, smoother and hydrated.

In terms of ingredients, Make P:rem Comfort Me Air Mask uses amazing ingredients like Nordic Berry and Ceramide to hydrate skin, oxygen to help purify skin and chamomile to calm skin. It is said that from the oxygen, the skin will experience mild air therapy to help gently remove dead skin cells and moisturize the skin without irritating it.

I purchased 2 sheets of Dr. Jart Cicapair Calming Mask when I was in Korea, judging by how popular the brand is. Check out my previous reviews on Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution,

Made in Korea, Dr. Jart Cicapair Calming Mask is free from artificial fragrances and colours, denatured alcohol, triethanolamine, sulfate-based surfactants, triclosan, mineral oil, propylene glycol, and DEA that causes skin irritation.

The mask had a subtle scent and the fibre sheet material was thin, smooth and sheer with a slightly shorter nose flap. The cutting fitted well and the adherence was good. Unfortunately, the mask was rather wet and it kept dripping from my chin so it was rather annoying. The best way is just to lie back and relax on the bed during masking.

There were some red patches caused by Arcona Magic Black Ice Volcanic Exfoliating Mask and I took the chance to use Dr. Jart Cicapair Calming Mask thereafter.

After a 20 minute masking session, my skin was visibly soothed and calmed with all the red patches  gone. I can see why Dr. Jart masks are such a hot favourite now! Highly recommended for sensitive/red, oily and acne prone skin.

In terms of ingredients, Dr. Jart Cicapair Calming Mask uses Asiatica Extract, Niacinamide and Madecassoside to instantly soothe and cool down your skin. Madecassoside and Asiatic Acid are components of Centella Asiatica which further promote healing as well as protect your skin from premature ageing. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) that improves skin tone in addition to accelerating skin cell regeneration.

Centella Asiatica – a plant ingredient that provides hydration and accelerates skin cell regeneration. It will also heal and soothe acne as well as reduce redness.

Niacinamide – this ingredient boosts collagen production, strengthens skin, helps your skin retain moisture for longer and accelerates skin cell turnover, resulting in younger, healthier skin.

I purchased Hanyul Nature in Life Sheet Masks ( Seo Ri Tae, Brown Pine Leaves, Rice, Artemisia ) from Aritaum when I was in Korea as I was attracted to the calming and soothing vibe from the packaging.

There are 5 variants from the line but I only managed to buy 4 different types. I brought all 4 sheet masks for use in Bangkok.

[ Review ] : Tony Moly Panda's Dream Eye Patch

I purchased 10 sheets of Tony Moly Panda's Dream Eye Patch when I was in Korea. They came individually packed without any boxes. The under eye patch is designed to vitalize the skin around eyes that appear dark and dull due to various elements.

Made in Korea and 5 free (Paraben, mineral oil, benzophenone, GMO, triethanolamine free), they come in 2 large round patches separated by a netted mesh covering. Designed to look like pandas, Tony Moly Panda's Dream Eye Patch are black in colour and large in size with eye flaps in the center that can be folded up or down. Soft and comfortable, they make a good relaxing treat for the eyes.

These freshly scented patches use bamboo shoot extract and vitamin B to help brighten, moisturize and reduce fine lines and redness around the eyes. It also contains niacinamide that is a whitening effect ingredient to restore the vitality to the tired eye rim.

This is a perfect additive to any morning routine for a quick fix or a relaxing treat in the night before bed time.

Unfortunately, the performances were rather inconsistent. Sometimes, I felt that they do plump up the undereye area, making the fine lines less obvious but on other nights, there were no differences.

Overall, they are cute, fun, refreshing and soothe tired eyes with the occasional effectiveness of plumping up the undereye area.

[ Review ] : Skylake Elastic Dual Mask Pack

Skylake Elastic Dual Mask Pack is the last variant of the Skylask facial mask sheets which I have tried. Skylake Herbal Mask Pack ( Brightening Care ) has been pretty effective on my skin while Skylake Oriental Mask Pack ( Relax For Trouble Skin ) was not bad too.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Skylake Elastic Dual Mask Pack comes in 5 individually packed sheets in a box. Each sheet has a soothing herbal scent that feels calming.

The material of the non-woven sheet mask is sturdy and of medium thickness with a good cutting for my cherubic face shape. Its a large mask which is suitable for large face shape.

Performance and Ingredients 

Unlike the other first 2 variants, Skylake Elastic Dual Mask Pack comes with an additional separate flap for the neck area.

Abundantly rich with herbal extracts and blend of collagen, the sheet mask is said to tighten pores, leave skin moisturized and healthier looking and is able to soothe and calm sensitive and irritation-prone skin effectively.

On my first use, there was a slight tightening effect which is what the mask description entails - calms and tightens the pores. Pores looked smaller although the effect did not last beyond the following morning. This tightening sensation continues even after removing the mask which was pretty odd - as though there was a horizontal tightening band across my 2 cheeks. It disappears after a while. There was no such tightening sensation from the second sheet mask onwards.

After every masking session, skin is left feeling very smooth, soft, supple with a subtle radiance. Makeup goes on smoothly. Definitely a great mask before a date.

The additional flap as the neck mask was rather redundant to me though, as it kept sliding off my neck and I have to keep holding and pressing on it throughout the masking duration.

In terms of ingredients, Skylake Elastic Dual Mask Pack uses the patented SKYLAKE oriental herbal extract to soothe, hydrate and empower skin’s natural healing abilities to renew its appearance.

It is made with 18 natural ingredients which are distilled in-house. The ingredients include cnidium and angelica root, which are said to be good for blood circulation and balance, poria cocos, which is known for its moisturizing and immune system aiding effect, chestnut, which supports oil control and pore contraction, mint and licorice, plum and kelp. These ingredients are known to discharge toxins and soothe, whiten and tighten the skin. At SKYLAKE this kind of water replaces the distilled water that other brands use.

According to research study here and here, Angelica Gigas Extract and Angelica Dahurica Root Extract have exhibited great whitening capabilities while Artemisia Absinthium Extract ( also known as Mugwort ) has soothing and inflammatory properties for skin. Conclusion

To conclude, while I do love the Hanbang ingredients and the effectiveness from using Skylake Elastic Dual Mask Pack, the tightening sensation on my first use was rather unsettling.

If I have to choose among all the 3 mask packs, my vote goes to Skylake Herbal Mask Pack ( Brightening Care ).

Skylake Oriental Mask Pack ( Relax For Trouble Skin ) comes in a box with 5 individually packed sheet masks. It has a calming herbal scent similar to Skylake Brightening Mask Pack.

The material is of medium thickness, slightly stiff but sturdy. The adherence may not be as great as the thinner material but I don't mind, so long I can see the effectiveness at the end of the session. The cutting fits great.

However, the essence from the mask keeps dripping ( does not even trickle down to my neck, probably due to mask adherence ), making a mess on my bedroom floor and the bed sheets hence the best way, is just to lie down on the bed while masking.

Performance and Ingredients

Skylake Oriental Mask Pack is said to tighten the pores and instantly boosts the elasticity of your skin. It calms and heals acne skin by controlling excess oil and restore the PH-balance of the skin.

After every masking session, my skin would be visibly calmed and slightly brighter with smoother skin and a slight cooling sensation. 20 minutes are just right as the mask would be almost dry without any dripping mess and there is no need to rinse my skin as its not sticky unlike other sheet masks. However, there is a slight hint of tautness on the upper lips which goes away after 5 minutes.
