Exfoliate flaky, blemished, or irritated skin gently with Pyunkang Yul's peeling gel. Made with Betaine Salicylate (BHA), this face exfoliator lifts pore-clogging dead skin from the surface. Allantoin works to keep skin moisturized, hydrated and calm.

Meant to be used on damp skin, the clear gel started to ball up as I massaged it on skin which reminded me vaguely of Ginvera Marvel Gel. My skin is left feeling clean, soft and very smooth.
Step 2 : Essence Toner Mask, 25ml
Made with the same material as Pyunkang Yul 1/3 cotton pad, the Essence Toner Mask is totally soaked in essence that dripped down to my neck even after layering it on skin. The material is very thin and soft to the point that it teared twice - when I was trying to unfold it and when I was adjusting the mask on my face. The cutting fits well on my cherubic face shape.
After a 25 minute masking session, my skin looked clear, fresh and bright with a slight tightness on the upper lips area.
Step 3 : The Balancing Gel
The Pyunkang Yul Balancing gel is an anti-aging hydrator that works to return your skin to its natural balanced state by helping it build and strengthen its barrier. Made with only seven essential ingredients, this gel melts into your skin to give it a smooth and bouncy texture. It is suitable for all skin types, especially for sensitive skin.
This balancing gel has a tricky consistency. It appeared to be a clear thick gel and is difficult to glide on dry skin as it is meant to be used directly after masking, while the skin is still damp. Immediately, after application, my skin is left feeling very sticky and if I try to glide my hands on skin, it gives off some weird squeaky sounds like rubbing on glass panels.
After 5 minutes, it felt like there is a film on my skin, making it smooth. Another 5 minutes later, the gel has been totally absorbed and my skin is left feeling soft, smooth and having that "glass skin" effect. "Glass skin" effect is simply another term for glowing and dewy skin or clear, transparent and luminous skin.
The effect lasted well through the day, and would be great, just before an important event.

The key ingredient for Pyunkang Yul Peeling Gel is Betaine Salicylate which is derived from sugar beets and sometimes used as an alternative to the exfoliating ingredient salicylic acid in countries where the usage of salicylic acid is prohibited or the amount permitted is severely restricted.
Although Betaine Salicylate appears to be promising, there’s no independent research to go on, and no independent studies comparing its effectiveness to the well-established BHA ingredient salicylic acid.
The only research about Betaine Salicylate comes from Arch Personal Care Products, an ingredient manufacturer that sells this ingredient. According to their information based on in vivo testing, betaine salicylate shows comparable effectiveness to salicylic acid at double the concentration. So, in seems that in order to get the same results from Betaine Salicylate as a product with 2% salicylic acid, a 4% concentration of betaine salicylate is necessary.
Interestingly, like salicylic acid, Betaine Salicylate’s effectiveness is pH-dependent, with a pH range of 3.8-4.2 being needed.
Anecdotal information from consumers who’ve tried products with Betaine Salicylate and salicylic acid is mixed; some people report better results and tolerability with Betaine Salicylate, while others report that salicylic acid worked better, without any unwanted effects. ( source )

As for Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner Mask, it contains a remarkable 7 ingredients and there is no water in it. 91.3% of this toner is Milk Vecht Root Extract ( also known as Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract ) and the rest is full of skin-beneficial betaine and minerals.
The Milk Vecht Root Extract is an oriental and nutritious medicine root that contains plenty of bioactive compounds such as saponins, flavonoids and polysaccharides which is well known for its general tonic and skin reinforcing properties, as well as for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant action.
