Review : Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner Moisture

Product Description
Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner Moisture is a moisturising toner that works wonders on dry, flaky skin, refining the surface and leaving it clean and moisturised.

A good friend has gifted a set of the Laneige Essential Care Travel Kit during Christmas last year and it was apt for my Tasmania trip in late August. The Moisture Care Kit consists of Multi Cleanser EX 30ml, Essential Power Skin Refiner Moisture ( for oily skin ) 50ml, Essential Balancing Emulsion Moisture ( for dry skin ) 50ml and Water Bank Moisture Cream ( for dry skin ) 20ml.

Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner Moisture is a toner containing Bio-Dusali and fermented seaweed to energize and restore healthy skin turnover as well as Hyacinth Extracts to help skin flush out heavy metals, pollutants, and other harmful substances so that skin stays clean and moisturized. Ingredients like royal jelly extracts and sugar beet extracts also helps to restore moisture in dry, rough skin to provide a healthy appearance.

Unfortunately, the 2nd ingredient is alcohol which I rather do without. It will dry the skin, if used for the long term. The alcohol, together with its distinct Laneige scent is strong, both of which, I rather do without, as they do nothing for the skin. Note that the Essential Power Skin Refiner Moisture is recommended for oily skin.

Due to the inclusion of the alcohol ingredient, it provides a cooling sensation during application. I don't use cotton pads for this, only my hands, to spread and pat it on my face before applying the Essential Balancing Emulsion Moisture and Water Bank Moisture Cream.

Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner Moisture is slightly murky with a watery consistency like most toners do. It absorbs pretty quickly into skin, leaving my skin slightly hydrated and better prepared for the next product. However, a note of recommendation, is that, you do need moisturiser after the toner, as it does not work well on its own, especially with the alcohol so high up in the list. Even if you have oily skin, a moisturiser is still needed, but get a light one.

On its own, I did not quite fancy its formulation for my combination with surface dehydration. It irritates the area around my nose, making it slightly more sensitive with slight redness. However, when paired as a set with the Essential Balancing Emulsion Moisture and Water Bank Moisture Cream, it does perform well, in both Singapore and Tasmania.

This toner scored 4.6 from 9 users on Makeupalley.
