Review : Clarins UV PLUS HP Day Screen High Protection SPF 40 UVA-UVB/PA+++ Anti-pollution (Beige)

Product Description
The high performance day screen developed for city dwellers in order to maintain beautiful-looking skin. Triple protection: anti-UV, anti-pollution and antioxidant in a silky-smooth, fine and lightweight texture. Apply after your moisturizer and before make-up. Slightly tinted, it is ideal for everyday and will leave your skin smooth and matte while boosting a very natural-looking radiance.

Benefits :
100% mineral screen: helps protect against sun-induced signs of ageing and helps prevent dark spots.
Canteloup extract from Provence: protects the skin from oxidative stress.
Clarins exclusive Anti-Pollution complex: preserves the skin from the harmful effects of the environment

Clarins has so many new upgrades of the same product that a new user like me, would be confused. Being a new Clarins member, I like the perks that Clarins give to their members, which I always advocate for other brands. I once wrote to a major brand to give perks like that of Clarins, when they asked for feedback from members to make it better. At that time, I did not know that Clarins have been practising that, since I was not a member until now.

Clarins will send a sample sachet to the member's mailbox for them to get a firsthand usage of the product. Being a beauty junkie, I like such ideas and welcomed the hassle-free method of getting users to try their products without the need to visit their counters.
Most brands require you to visit their counter for them to take down your particulars before giving you a sachet. More often than not, the sachets usually run out. At times like this, I wonder what is the perk of being a beauty member when they do not even bother to reserve it for you.

1 sachet is still able to last me for about 2 weeks of usage, which I used in the morning before my loose powder. Layering it on top of my Dermalogica sunblock made my T-zone slightly oily by mid-day. Having a primer before this Clarins Day Screen proved to be a better option.

The new UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection SPF40 ( what a mouthful! ) has a new shade " Beige" on top of their regular "Tint" and "Neutral". Unlike other brands I know of, Tint is actually a pinkish shade to give a lumionous and radiant complexion, whereas Neutral is of a clear shade to give a natural-looking complexion. I haven't got the chance to try those at their counters, so lets focus on this "Beige" instead.

Beige invokes a feeling of milk-tea colour but its not as pale as what the name implies. Its more like what a tinted sunscreen should be, although in Clarins, their "tint" doesn't meant skin-colour tone.
This newest shade "Beige" is touted to give flawless and even-toned skin. It is to provide light coverage and is perfect for days without make-up.

It is the Her World Beauty Awards 2012 Readers' Choice of being the Best Anti-Aging Sunscreen, for its lightweight texture that glides evenly on skin.

Triple Protection
1) Anti-oxidant : Rich in antioxidants, Cantaloupe Melon extract inhibits DNA damage within skin to prevent signs of premature aging such as dark spots and fine lines.
2) Anti-UV : Formulated with a 100% mineral screen to protect skin from the harmful effects of UV rays. Suitable for sensitive skin.
3) Anti-pollution : Contains an exclusive anti-pollution complex which shields skin from the harmful effects of pollutants.

It has a lovely floral scent, typical of Clarins products. The runny consistency meant that I tend to pour out more than necessary.
It is non-sticky but has a slight greasy texture even though its lightweight, however it is still able to emphasize dry patches if you have dry skin. The beige colour fits my skin tone and blends in well. It has a sheer to medium coverage which is buildable. My redness and blemishes were covered well, with the application though not totally disappeared.
It brightens up the look and even-out the skin tone.

Having SPF40 with PA+++ is a pretty good package, protecting against UVA and UVB rays though the light layer on the skin won't give enough protection so while I still prefer to have a sunscreen underneath, there were days I skipped it and use a primer which gives an overall better oil-control.
It gives a healthier sheen to my overall look, when paired with a radiance-enhancing primer. Setting it with loose powder, completes my simple look. Easy-peasy, when I am rushing for time.

It scored a 3.8 from 85 users on Makeupalley

Hi Ling,
Thanks for sharing. Their products are super expensive for the benefits they claimed and seriously, it just kept increasing! At least you checked and save yourself some money. :)
