Olaplex No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner Review
Product Description
Olaplex No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner is a concentrated and color-safe conditioner proven to reduce breakage and nourish hair leaving it smoother, shinier, and more manageable with every wash. The moisturizing formula hydrates all hair types as it detangles and strengthens.

KEY BENEFITS
✓ Reduces breakage and strengthens hair
✓ Conditions, moisturizes, and hydrates
✓ Improves manageability and boosts shine

This is my last Olaplex product in my collection, after emptying Olaplex Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment No. 0 Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil and Olaplex No. 9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum.

At the heart of every Olaplex product lies its groundbreaking, patented ingredient, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. This star component is the foundation of the brand’s bond-building technology, a science-backed innovation that works on a molecular level to repair broken disulfide bonds in the hair. These bonds are what give your hair its strength, structure, and elasticity and when they’re damaged by heat styling, coloring, or chemical treatments, hair becomes weak, brittle, and prone to breakage.

Olaplex’s bond-repairing technology helps to reconnect these internal bonds, effectively restoring hair integrity from within. Unlike traditional conditioners that only smooth the surface, products infused with Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate work deep inside the hair shaft to strengthen, repair, and protect over time.

This makes Olaplex’s rinse-off conditioners more than just a detangling or softening step as they’re an essential part of a hair-rebuilding routine that leaves your strands noticeably healthier, shinier, and more resilient after every wash.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Olaplex No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner comes in a 250ml plastic bottle with a convenient flick-top cap that makes it easy to dispense just the right amount of product. (If you’re new to Olaplex, there’s also a 100ml trial size, perfect for testing before committing to the full size.)

It carries a pleasant, salon-like fragrance that remains subtle once rinsed, perfect for those who prefer light, non-overpowering fragrances. The conditioner has a rich, creamy pudding-like texture that glides effortlessly through the hair, ensuring even coverage from roots to ends. It leaves hair feeling silky, smooth, and tangle-free without weighing it down.

How To Use :
1) After shampooing, dispense and apply to mid-lengths and ends.
2) Leave on for 1-3 minutes. Rinse well.

Performance and Ingredients

I’ll admit I don’t pamper my hair as much as I do my skin. I usually skip rinse-off conditioners, except for the first two weeks after hair coloring when my strands feel dry, rough, and straw-like. During that period, I use the Olaplex No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner as a pre-shampoo treatment to help soften and smooth my hair before cleansing.

Formulated with Olaplex’s patented bond-building technology featuring Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, this conditioner works to repair broken hair bonds, restore strength, and improve elasticity from within. It delivers deep nourishment while maintaining a lightweight feel, making it suitable for all hair types even fine or color-treated hair.

I prefer to wet my hair, coat my long hair with the conditioner, leave it for 10 minutes before adding on the shampoo and then rinse off both together. It left my hair feeling silky, tangle-free, and frizz-free without weighing it down. It also makes detangling easier and gives my hair a smoother, more manageable finish.

The only drawback is the bottle packaging, as the small opening and creamy texture make it slightly difficult to dispense the product towards the end.

To conclude, Olaplex No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner softens and detangles while leaving my hair smooth, manageable, and frizz-free without any greasy or heavy residue even when used as a pre-shampoo treatment although the packaging could be improved for easier dispensing.

If your hair feels dry, brittle, or over-processed, the Olaplex No.5 Conditioner may be a great addition to your routine to help repair and maintain healthy, glossy hair with continued use, if you are willing to splurge.
