[ Review ] L/Chemy Hydracalm Serum, Peptide Serum, Moisturiser

 

Thanks to L/Chemy who had gifted the following products to me, in return for honest reviews. 

L/Chemy, the in-house skincare brand from Eternelle V Aesthetic Clinic & Medispa, believes in simplifying your personal care routines for more time on life’s greater pursuits, engineering a life of ease to realise your personal legend.

On their website, you can search for face products, body care products or bundled products for ease of convenience. 

Strangely, there are neither batch codes nor manufacturing dates/expiry dates printed on their actual products, although the Period After Opening (PAO) was stated. 

L/Chemy Ocean is a hydrocalm serum formulated with a combination of multi-molecular hyaluronic acids, anti-inflammatory and barrier-repair ingredients. It intensively hydrates and calms dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin. The continuous use of this serum reduces wrinkles, improves skin elasticity and provides an excellent plumping effect. A potent humectant, this serum works for dehydrated, even oily and sensitive skin types and especially for those living in humid climates.

How To Use : 

1) Apply onto cleansed and freshly-toned skin - day and night, until thoroughly absorbed. 

2) Follow with moisturiser.

Tip : Layer after Golden Glow or Breathe for perfectly hydrated skin!

Hyaluronic Acid works very well for me so it was no surprise that I really like Ocean. Housed in a 30ml dropper bottle, the serum is clear in colour and lightweight in texture with a smooth consistency that sinks in well into skin with a calming sensation and a subtle tacky after-feel. I couldn't detect any scent.

It works better on damp skin and I noticed my face is much plumped up, hydrated and calmer ( less redness ) with regular use. Say bye bye to dehydrated skin!

The active ingredients are....

9 HA Complex : This Hyper-Hyaluronic Matrix consists of 9 hyaluronic acids and forms a 3D matrix to provide hydration to all the different layers of the skin. The formulation penetrates to the deep dermis and also hydrates the skin’s surface for longer, enhanced hydration. Reduces flakiness, restores suppleness and improves firmness and elasticity. 

Vitamin B Complex : The combination of Vitamin B3, B5 (D-Panthenol) and a triple soothing plant complex of Chamomile Extract, Maple Syrup Extract and Portulaca Extract moisturises, softens and calms irritated and inflamed skin by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines. It also helps to reduce itching, redness and defends skin against external stressors. This complex effectively refines skin texture and minimises the appearance of pores.

Ceramides Complex : Ceramides and Cholesterol are waxy lipids that help form, restore and maintain the skin barrier. It also protects against environmental aggressors and prevents moisture loss. When mixed together, these actives are ideal for improving skin tone and texture, increasing elasticity and relieving signs of sensitivity. It is especially effective for those with dry and flaky skin or eczema.

L/Chemy Elixir Ultimate is a 30ml serum housed in a dropper bottle, however, the dropper doesn't work the usual way. For better suction, squeeze the dropper outside of the bottle, while squeezing put it back into the bottle and release it so that more product can be sucked by the dropper.

Lightweight milky in texture, the serum has a subtle metallic scent and absorbed easily into skin leaving it soft and smooth. Initially, I didn't like L/Chemy Elixir Ultimate that much, as it felt rich and heavy for day use, with a zit developed on the chin during the first day of usage which thankfully subsided a few days later. 

However, with regular use over 1.5 months, my skin has grown accustomed to the serum and no longer think its rich and heavy, instead, I appreciated how it left my skin smooth, healthy, glowing and clear. 

The active ingredients are....

PENTAPEPTIDE-48 : A new and biologically-active peptide that activates skin regeneration and luminosity. Inspired by epigenetic science, this peptide mimics royal jelly in its skin renewal action. The encapsulated Royalaction peptide penetrates deep into the layers of skin to stimulate renewal and a rapid increase in smoothness. It interacts with epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptors to promote tissue regeneration and uniformity of complexion within 28 days.

PALMITOYL TETRAPEPTIDE-10 : This peptide regulates a protein called α-crystallin which promotes skin clarity and improves skin hydration by inhibiting accumulation of cellular waste, removal of pigments and boosting the production of skin peptides. It triggers cell differentiation and maintains cell size, giving skin a soft-polish effect with translucent luminosity and a dewy, radiant glow.

BISABOLOL : Extracted from Chamomile, Bisabolol is effective in reducing inflammation and also a natural humectant helping skin trap moisture. Bisabolol is also a great source of Vitamin B. This ingredient reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by penetrating deep into the lower layers of the skin.

PALM EXTRACT : Extracted from natural sources and free from mineral petrolatum, this palm extract is a non-irritant to both skin and eyes. Each unique component is specially chosen and blended to provide skin firming and brightening benefits, leaving the skin silky smooth, soft and deeply moisturized.

L/Chemy Calmness is an intensive rescue treatment that deliver immediate relief to skin that is under stress. This cream restores dry, red and inflammed skin and also minimises downtime after aesthetic procedures. Each ingredient is specially curated to achieve excellent efficacy: Super Cica Complex for superior skin soothing benefit and to accelerate skin repair. Curcumin and Pine Bark Extract alleviate skin redness. Ceramides for skin barrier repair and protection. Silver Carboxymethylalaninate which provides anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory effect. A blend of plant extracts which include Chamomile, Cucumber, Portulaca and Marrubium Vulgare that offer remarkable skin soothing effects. Glyceryl Glucoside promotes 48 hours of wound healing.

How To Use :

Apply onto cleansed and freshly-toned skin - day and night. Use at the last step of skincare, especially on compromised areas of the skin.

Tip : Delivers immediate relief for dryness and sensitivities.

L/Chemy Calmness comes in a 50ml bottle with a sleek dispenser that dispenses just the right amount of the thick creamy beige contents for face use. It has a heavy fragrance which I am not a fan of, and the thick cream can be slightly too rich for my combination skin type in humid Singapore. My skin looked greasy the following morning if I use it in the night.

That said, I appreciate its emollient properties when I brought it along for my recent Carribean cruise as it worked well to moisturize and nourish my skin throughout the night in air-conditioned area. 

It was also helpful to combat the flakiness after my facial. I tend to experience some flakiness 2 days after facial and using the cream eliminates all the flakiness in the next 2 days. 

SILVER CARBOXYMETHYLALANINATE : This ingredient is a complex that combines a rare amino-acid with silver which offers a dual effect on the skin’s immunity by stimulating anti-microbial peptides and rebalancing the skin microbiota. Its anti-inflammatory power provides calming and soothing properties on the skin.

SUPER CICA COMPLEX (MADECASSIC ACID) : The Super Cica is a highly titrated powder extract of Centella Asiatica (Centella Asiatica Extract, Asiatic Acid, Madecassic Acid and Asiaticoside) in nano-lipid encapsulation. Due to the poor solubility of Super Cica, the concentrated powder is first converted into nano-sized particles and then encapsulated in a phospholipids matrix which creates better adhesion to the skin and enhances the penetration of actives into the deeper layers of the skin. Super Cica provides superior soothing efficacy, accelerates skin repair and reconstructs skin by increasing cell turnover and inhibiting inflammatory cytokines. It also offers UV cell protection and antioxidant properties which prevent skin pigmentation and aging.

PRACAXI SEED OIL : Pracaxi Seed Oil is abundant in essential fatty acids and antioxidants. It has a unique lipid composition as it contains a wide range of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids including linoleic, oleic, and behenic acids. Some of these essential fatty acids are considered key components of the skin’s natural moisture barrier and inhibits epidermal inflammation. Pracaxi Oil provides numerous benefits including regenerative and softening properties, increasing density of collagen networks and hyaluronic content, reducing hyperpigmentation and preventing abnormal scar formation. It also has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties that alleviate itching and redness and is beneficial for irritated or blemished skin conditions.

CERAMIDES : This Ceramide is a lipid identical to those found naturally to our human skin. Ceramides are essentially the glue that hold our skin cells together to form, restore and maintain the skin barrier. It also protects skin against environmental aggressors and prevents moisture loss. It is especially effective to relieve dry and flaky skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
