Dr.Ci:Labo, known as the World's No.1 Medical Cosmetics brand developed by a team of dermatologists, has intrigued me enough to pick up a trial pack some time back.
Its been said that a baby's skin is soft because the body contains 80% water. At 20 years old, it drops to 60% water and at over 70 years old, it averages to 50%. The body's metabolism also decreases as the water level in the skin and body decreases. Older teenager's surface skin retains average of 20 to 25% moisture, and it continually declines as a person gets older and at 60 years old the skin's
moisture level is at 15%. Also, collagen and hyaluronic acid levels in the body goes down, thus, this creates wrinkles, sagging skin, dryness and other skin troubles that shows the signs of aging skin. To restore the skin as soft like baby's skin, it needs to be continually hydrated with a high amount of water so it can be moisturized all day long.
This is the last product from the kit which lasts me for quite a while as you don't need that much since its in cream form.
Of all the Dr. Ci:Labo products, I looked forward to trying this because its their star product as “Aqua-Collagen-Gel” is the biggest-selling gel product in Japan.
After trying out the 15ml size for the past one month, I would say that this product works pretty well in hydrating the skin. I hardly experience any flakiness on my skin despite being under the harsh air-conditioning in the office. Skin feels plump and supple.
However, I didn't like the texture - it felt sticky after application. The white cream texture is slightly thick and emollient and does not glide on the skin as well as I thought it will. And the ingredient list is super long!
Its claims :
As a toner and lotion, moisture is introduced and prevented from leaving
skin.
As a beauty and facial cream skin is smoothed and brightened!
As a face mask and makeup base, the high level of moisture and balance
can't be beat.
Despite claiming to be 6 in 1, I still use a toner and serum ocassionally, just to see if there is a difference. Note that I only use this moisturizer as a day moisturiser and skipped it during the night. I also don't use it as a make-up base.
Toner : I was using Murad hydrating toner but it made this moisturiser feel even more tacky and sticky. I skipped the toner then, and feels that the moisturiser applies better on the skin. I have no problem with Avene Thermal Spray as a toner, but it made the moisturiser slightly diluted.
Beauty essence : I was using Clarins Shaping Lift as a serum prior to this moisturiser at times and it made the moisturiser feels heavy and too much for the skin. My skin broke out in zits.
Facial Mask : I still see the need of using masks ocassionally as I don't feel that the moisturiser can overtake the masking abilities, after a good exfoliating scrub.
