My reviews were selected as one of the Top 10 reviewers on Wishtrend so I had the option to choose 3 products of my choice and Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop came to my mind. Strangely, the usage instructions were different on the box packaging, Wishtrend website and Klairs website.
The box packaging states that the product can be used day and night, while Klairs website states that the product have to be used before toner without mentioning if its a day or night use, and the Wishtrend website states that this is a night serum that is to be used before toner.
I usually follow the instructions stated on box packaging as I presume that is the most accurate to the production of the product and its ingredients.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop comes in a 20ml dropper bottle without any fragrance. The consistency is runny and unbelievably lightweight with a cooling sensation and a subtle tackiness. Meant to be blue in colour, my serum has turned grey when I opened up the bottle for use, after storing it for more than 6 months.
According to the FAQ on the Wishtrend website, the serum can still be used hence I have been using it for the past 2.5 months.
How To Use :
After cleansing and before using the toner, apply 3-4 drops over the face and gently pat to promote absorption.
Performance and Ingredients
This serum is highly concentrated with 10 core ingredients without the use of purified water to effectively combat various signs of aging and skin damage, improving overall skin texture and appearance. This is achieved by accelerating the skin’s renewal process, which helps to improve the overall health and condition of the skin, and ultimately helps to achieve youthful-looking skin with radiance and luminosity.
What are EGF and bFGF?
According to Wishtrend, our body produces EGF (Epidermal growth factor) and bFGF (Basic fibroblast growth factor) naturally. Both ingredients are key factors to stimulate cell growth and are effective in wound healing. This keeps the skin firm and smooth and is crucial in improving skin elasticity.
However, in the mid-20s, the concentration of EGF in the body decreases rapidly, and the amount of collagen produced in the skin also drops to 50%. Ultraviolet light (UVA) that is inevitably absorbed every day penetrates deeply into the skin and destroys the essential elements of skin health, but skin with slowed production of EGF and bFGF can’t repair on its own at the same rate as before. As a result, a decrease in skin elasticity will be reflected in the form of wrinkles or less firmer skin.
Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop comes into play with its high concentrations of EGF and bFGF, with EGF prescribed to the max level of 10PPM as well as the bFGF (93% of total weight), containing enough for significant effects. Adenosine, a raw material with wrinkle-improving effects, and Guaiazulene, which calms the skin stimulated by UV rays, are designed to combat various causes of aging.
You would also be pleased that the product has garnered the following awards :

– 2017 Beauty Shortlist Awards – Editor’s Choice
The Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop has such a thin and runny consistency that it felt almost like water during application hence I prefer to pour it in my palms and pat it onto skin.
It has a cooling sensation and a subtle tackiness upon application but after absorption, my skin felt soft and smooth. I have emptied this product after slightly more than a month but I haven't notice any significant improvement to my skin.
That said, anti-aging products tend to take some time for it to exhibit results so I might need a second bottle to see a more noticeable difference.
I prefer to pair this Iunik Black Snail Restore Cream but not with Biotherm Aqua Gel Moisturizer or I'm From Licorice Calming Cream as they tend to look greasy on me.
Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop has a PAO of 6 months but it isn't much of an issue as this is just a 20ml bottle where I have already used up 50% of it in 3 weeks.
The key ingredients are....
Dual Peptides: EGF (sh-Oligopeptide-1) and bFGF (sh-Polypeptide-1) : Helps to accelerate skin cell renewal and reduce fine lines and wrinkles
Guaiazulene : Helps to instantly calm sensitive skin and strengthen skin barrier
Blueberry : A powerful antioxidant that effectively lightens dark spots
Water, Butylene Glycol, sh-Oligopeptide-1, sh-Polypeptide-1, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Lecithin, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glycerin, Chlorphenesin, Guaiazulene, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine
Conclusion
To conclude, Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop has a thin and runny consistency which made application more challenging and felt more like applying water. There was a cooling sensation and a subtle tackiness which disappeared once absorbed into skin, leaving it soft and smooth. However, I have yet to see a noticeable difference to skin after emptying the product in 6 weeks but it is understandable as it is an anti-aging product.
