Made from 92% Aloe Vera gel, Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel is enriched with vitamins and can be used for just about anything, from soothing sunburns to hydrating the skin and hair in the form of a mask, to an everyday moisturizer for supple skin. The aloe vera used to make this product comes from certified organic farmers in California (CCOF) and is kind to even the most sensitive of skins, making this suitable for all skin types. No wonder this is one of the best selling products around and has sold over 1.5 million units!
Aloe vera is a cactus-like plant known for its healing and medicinal properties. According to a research study, the gel from aloe has been used throughout history to treat a variety of skin conditions - it can soothe sunburn, relieve skin irritation, add moisture, fight acne, treat cold sores, slow signs of aging, prevent dark spots and lightly exfoliates.
Seeing how popular Nature Republic 92% Soothing Gel is, I could not resist getting a tub when I was in Seoul late last year. Unfortunately, I did not like it as much as I thought.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
Nature Republic 92% Soothing Gel comes in a round green plastic tub. The price is considered pretty affordable for its 300ml contents at 4400 won. There is a mixture of fresh aloe vera and strong alcohol scent which turned me off. The gel texture has a cooling and minty sensation with a sticky finishing that disappeared after about 2 minutes, leaving the skin smoother.

I first started off with using it as a face moisturiser. However, the alcohol scent is a major turn-off and even more so, when I realized that its the 2nd ingredient in the list, so after 2 weeks of using it, I switched to using it for the body.
I also tried using Nature Republic 92% Soothing Gel in a variety of ways after checking LoveforKBeauty's blog, an Instagram friend. She reviewed many products on Instagram, so you can check out her account here. I am not someone who waste skincare products so I welcome different ways of using a product which does not suit my face.
As a face moisturiser or a rinse-off mask, it does not make a noticeable difference to my skin. I don't feel that it hydrates my skin at all and I personally don't really like to apply such a high alcohol-concentrated product on my face although it does contain 92% Aloe Vera gel.
As an undereye mask, the cooling sensation made me feel that it can probably depuff my eyebags or swollen eyelids, if I ever need it but after 10 minutes of usage, I don't really see any difference although my eye area does feel refreshed and rested. However, since my undereye area has always been dry, having an alcohol-infused product on the area often may make it drier in the long term.
As a body moisturiser, it works pretty well as I like to apply it after shower since it is cooling and is so welcomed in Singapore with summer weather all year round and is especially great during the warmer months like April and May period. My skin feels slightly smoother after application.
As a soothing balm, I noticed that it soothe itchiness from insect bites which I tend to get often so I like Nature Republic 92% Soothing Gel for that purpose.

1) Moisturizing Sleeping Pack
Mix a few drops of facial oil with Aloe Vera Soothing Gel to make into a rich multi moisturizer. You may use it as a sleeping pack or a daily moisturizer!
Moisture-retention level increases with an extra drip of facial oil!

Mix makeup primer and Aloe Vera Soothing Gel at the ratio of 2:1. Apply the blend gently over your face to create a natural glowing look.

Ingredients
As mentioned, alcohol found as the 2nd in the list, meant the concentration is high and I don't really fancy having it on my face due to the long term drying effects. However, do note that the first ingredient is Aloe Vera and its at 92% so its pretty high for that too.
There are 2 conflicting theories on how alcohol can be good or bad in skincare products - you can read it from Paula's take ( con ) here and Nicki's take ( pro ) here to decide it yourself. I am no purist but I will try to avoid products with alcohol found as the first few ingredients in the list, if I can especially since alcohol denat and cetyl alcohol can be irritating to skin too.

Conclusion
To conclude, Nature Republic 92% Soothing Gel has been a rather popular and affordable product for most people, however, it is not really for me and I would not purchase it again. I depleted the product within 7 months, using it from face to body and even as a soothing balm. How about you? Do you like this product?
