Positive vibes filled my mind whenever it comes to the Sulwhasoo brand. I simply adore the concept behind their brand of incorporating Korean herbs into their line. The only downside is the price, which is why I have to yet to try out their anti-aging range. Check out my past positive reviews of their products.
Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Intense SPF50+/PA+++ is their latest make-up product which comes in 7 shades. Mine was a Medium Pink in Shade 21 which fits my fair skin complexion well.
This was my first cushion compact so I actually do not have much expectations to draw from. But based on my good friends' rave on the Laneige cushion compact, which gave them smoother skin, I guess I should at least expect the same or more, from the more expensive Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Intense SPF50+/PA+++.
The Perfecting Cushion Intense comes in a compact with an additional layer for the sponge. The exterior of the cushion compact is just luxe at its best, with its gold and mahogany finishing. An embossed gold leaf foil keeps the "cushion" intact. Peel off the foil to reveal the slightly moist cushion.
The texture of the black sponge is pretty interesting though - thin and "poreless", unlike the usual soft sponge which you can press easily with minimal effort. The sponge that comes with the Perfecting Cushion Intense looks and feels smooth and makes one wonder how it is going to pick up the powder and transfer it to the skin. But well, according to the website description, the sponge is embedded with micro fibres that has a brushing effect that gently and evenly provides coverage for wrinkles and curved areas, leaving a natural skin tone.
Due to the smooth texture of the sponge, I tend to press it harder into the cushion several times, to pick up more powder, before tapping it onto my face. Coverage was light to medium but buildable, however more time is needed to build up the coverage because of the tapping motions.
On optimal skin condition, the Perfecting Cushion Intense gives off a very natural and dewy look. My skin was evened-out and looked much smoother. I actually pretty much enjoyed the experience of using the cushion in place of my BB Cream and loose powder. Its convenient and hassle-free and cuts down the time in preparing for work in the morning - best for gals who are always pressed for time in the mornings.
Oil control was slightly better than average as my oily T-zone oils up only by in the late afternoon.
However, on drier skin, the cushion has a tendency to emphasize the flakiness, so its recommended to use it on well, moisturised skin.
