Review : John Masters Organics Sea Salt Spray With Lavender

Product Description
Now every day can be a day at the beach. The natural sea salt in this unique spray gives hair the same extra body it has after a day at the ocean, while certified-organic lavender protects hair from drying. Safe for color-treated hair.

Key Ingredients :
Sea Salt - adds texture and volume
Lavender - normalizes scalp conditions and slows hair loss

Properties :
- sea salt adds texture and volume
- enhances curls
- lavender helps to protect the hair shaft
- can absorb oil between shampooing

At 13 pounds for 266ml, I bought it off ASOS a while back and only started using it after I had my hair permed. Some may baulk at the price because you can easily do it on your own, with sea salt and water, especially since the ingredients in this bottle are just so simple and easy, unlike Sunsilk Waves of Envy Sea Mist. But when you DIY, you just have to be patient to get the salt/water ratios correctly, or look for solutions online.

I absolutely hate how bulky the size is, especially I have to hold it and spray all over the back of my hair. I need something that is slim and portable, especially with my small hands. Because I tend to use it after my skincare application hence, the plastic brown bottle tends to be slippery in my hands with the emulsion remnants in my palms ( even though I have washed my hands ). The only logical thing to is, is to decant it to a smaller bottle.

I started off  not liking this product because it hardly defines the curls. I find it almost useless. Thereafter, I try to tweak the way I use it. And this is how I use it daily, before work. I spray all over the hair ( little doesn't help, spray more generously ), when my hair is damp. ( it doesn't work that well when the hair is very wet, just need a couple of minutes for the hair to air dry slightly before using the product.) Thereafter, I just twist and leave it, before running my fingers lightly through my hair, apply Rusk Sheer Brilliance Smoothing and Shining Polisher and off I go.

This sea salt spray doesn't hold and define the curls that well and I need to top up with another product in order to enhance the holding power. Sometimes I end up with nice beachy curls, sometimes I don't. Its like a hit and miss for me.
Its not the most brilliant product and its expensive so its not something I would repurchase. The lavender scent is nice and soothing though. Note that the salt grains tend to pool at the area outside the cap.

The product scores 3.2 from 17 users on Makeupalley.
