Desert Essence Organics Italian Red Grape Shampoo and Conditioner were something I gotten from my last Iherb haul, at the thought of colouring my hair. After using Loreal Elseve colored shampoo and conditioner with my last colouring job, I believe such hair products really do helps to maintain the colour longer, than the usual 1 month time frame.
I have to give the thumbs up to the scent "red grapes" which reminds me of the grape bubblegum. Both the shampoo and conditioner are just so wonderfully scented, but it doesn't linger long on the hair though.
Both are housed in tube form, but the shampoo hardly oozes out from its tube, you just have to keep depressing on the tube to get the contents out slowly. The conditioner has no problem with its tube, probably due to its creamy and smooth texture.
The shampoo lathers pretty well, giving rise to foam but it is slightly drying, leaving my hair straw-like and a tangled mess in wet condition. When the hair is air-dry, the hair still feels dry. The conditioner, with its creamy, smooth and thick texture is highly recommended, because it detangles and totally softened the locks to a silky smooth state, when its wet. Once the hair is air-dry, the hair feels soft.
With the usage of both products, hair feels clean, less frizzy and shinier. The products do not weigh the hair down but helps to make it voluminous. However. unfortunately, it does not help to retain the colour. There is no difference with or without using the coloured shampoo and conditioner.
Greys started showing after 3 weeks which is pretty short, I was expecting it to show up after more than a month. Perhaps, my colouring is of a natural origin, or that my hair just grows well much faster than the rest.
