5 super easy tips from Dr. Adam Geyer, a Consulting Dermatological Expert with Kiehl’s.
Start incorporating these tips into your skincare routine today.
1. Use a serum with Vitamin C
It’s an antioxidant and protects from the sun naturally. Studies have shown that Vitamin C improves your skin’s barrier functions so it’s better protected from the elements.
2. Reduce your sodium intake
An increase in sodium intake causes fluid to shift from our circulatory system into the spaces within your skin cells. This is what causes your face to become puffy, especially the skin on the eyelids.
3. Sleep on your back
Sleeping with your face down causes fluid to collect in the eyelid area and this fluid can be slow to drain. Gently tapping the skin under your eyes or applying some cool pressure will help the puffiness. Sleeping with your head elevated slightly and directed upwards can minimise swelling too.
4. Be gentle
The skin around your eyes is more sensitive than the skin on the rest of your face. So it’s best to use products with effective yet gentle ingredients specifically formulated for use in the eye area. Haloxyl, found in Kiehl’s Line Reducing Eye Brightening Concentrate has been found to get rid of pigmentation, increase skin density and reduce inflammation.
5. Start at home
Dr Geyer encourages people to begin with an effective at-home skincare regime before going for in-office procedures. You save money and minimise time spent recovering. Having a proper routine also helps reinforce good skincare habits to fight ageing in the long run, and your skin will be primed for success if you do go for a non-invasive procedure.
