Review on Clarins White Plus Renewing Gentle Exfoliator

Product Description
An extraordinary creamy paste which immediately removes toxins, dirt & impurities. Makes skin clean & transparent and invents a renewed radiance.
Contains exfoliating microbeads to gently lift off dead cells and deep-cleanse pores. The complexion is purified and the skin texture refined.
Thanks to the action of Clarins whitening plant complex, it helps reduce dark spots. The complexion is more even and visibly lighter. The skin is clean and smooth.

I am usually quite impressed with the marketing campaign of Clarins because it is very generous with its free samples.
How I wish that all the major brands do that, so that consumers like myself can try the different products in order to find out what is suitable for our skin.
This gentle exfoliator sample was given to me after a lengthy consultation at Takashimaya Clarins counter. I was told that it’s a scrub and its recommended to be used once or twice a week for my skin type.

I went home, a happy gal, thinking it is a scrub similar to what its name claimed. However, after some clumsy tries on my face, it seems that the texture have betrayed what a exfoliator should be. In fact, its like a clay mask when it was used dry on my skin.

For the first few initial tries, I used it on a wet face since I thought it was a scrub. The creamy paste becomes quite diluted when it was mixed with water on the face. I did not quite like the feeling as it neither feels like a scrub or a mask. The texture becomes very runny. Not a good cleansing vibe. The little beads made my skin feel slightly smoother but it still lose to my Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant.

After reading the instruction on the tube that its recommended to be used on a dry face, I decided to follow thru, hoping that it gave a better outcome. However, without any water, this exfoliator is just too dry to be layered softly on the skin. It just feels like a deep cleansing clay mask on the face. I cannot even do a gentle scrubbing motion since its so dry on the face, hence I just leave it as it is and wash off after 5 minutes.

I finally realized how to make it right! Just a few drops of water to make it not too dry and not too wet and it can actually be a pretty good mask to be used. In fact, its pretty impressive.

Visually, the texture of this exfoliator looks to be like those similar to clay mask, however, it actually contains microbeads within the creamy white paste. It was abit drying on my skin as my nose was flaking slightly but upon a closer look, my nose actually looks cleaner. Pores look more refined and smaller. Blackheads were lesser. I am not kidding.
In fact, I was quite surprised about the outcome and could not help smiling to myself that yes! I have finally found something to remove those icky blackheads from my nose.

Skin is smoother and looks slightly brighter. Best of all, this product is oil-free.

What I do not really like, is the tight feeling it left on my skin, after each scrub, though I can follow up with a hydrating mask.
Blackheads removal was not much but its good enough for me, at this stage.
