Review on Dr Wu Intensive Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid

Dr Wu Intensive Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid Review
Product Description :
Dr Wu Intensive Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid is an intensive Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid which contains hyaluronic acid, Oceagen (soluble collagen) and active yeast extract.

Hyaluronic acid is proven to be a ubiquitous component of skin tissue where it helps lubricating and stabilize cells formation in skin layers.

Oceagen will boost the skin hydration process, improve skin elasticity and improve skin dullness. The special hydrating formula can increase skin firmness, stimulate cell renewal, accelerate wound healing and reduce scarring.

Continuous application can reduce fine lines, wrinkles, blemish, loss of elasticity and improve dull skin tone, scarring and wound healing.

KEY PERFORMANCE:
- NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) : Active ingredient to lock in moisture within the skin to hydrate and reduce the prominence of the wrinkles.
- Oceagen : Extracted collagen from deep sea marine fishes, it regenerates the skin’s water retention ability to smooth and tighten.
- Elastin Extract : Rejuvenates the skin to nourish and restore youthfulness.
- Seamollient : An algae extract suitable for sensitive skin as it binds moisture to hydrate and repair.
- Yeast Extract : Calms, restores and stimulates the skin’s DNA repair process for a more radiant and firm skin texture.

This is my very first product from Dr. Wu’s line.
Based on his education background and research history as well as the various hats that he is wearing, he has nurtured countless talents in the field, as well as having edited and compiled more than 100 research papers, dissertations and thesis. This is one guy who is passionate about what he is doing.

I love their thoughtfulness which is apparent on all their products. On each product, its indicated as Step 1, Step 2 or Step 3, depending on what you are using.

Cleanser would fall under the Category of Step 1 as its the first step of cleansing. Their functions are also indicated on every bottle.
For the cleanser, their functions would be indicated as Cleanse/Tone, hence for this serum product, its indicated as Treat/Repair.

The hydrating serum is a sticky clear gel which look and feel oily. The scent is also quite terrible, it reminded me of glue.

Even though the gel dries up pretty fast after application but my face feels sticky thereafter.
It was slightly better after 5 to 10 minutes though there is still a slight stickiness. Standing in front of the fan does not seem to help much. After I followed up with my moisturizer, it gets even more sticky. Urgh.

Pertaining to their hydrating ability, I would say that its pretty good. The initial flaking skin near my nose was gone the next morning after I applied this before bed. Subsequent usage of the serum made my skin feels hydrated, however on the third day, I noticed a pimple on my chin.

I cannot confirm if its due to this serum or because of my approaching menses. Other than this, I also developed 2 tiny flesh coloured bumps on the right cheek. It seems like Milia. ( known as little balls of protein trapped within the skin ) I am quite upset and hope that it goes away soon.

According to this source , milia are keratin-filled cysts, or simply little globs of protein under the skin. There are generally two types of milia. Primary milia may result from oil glands that have not fully or properly developed. Secondary milia result from trauma to the skin.

I do not quite like the stickiness and the fact that its not oil-free.

Would I buy this again? Perhaps.
I think it would be good as a spot treatment, to hydrate only the required areas because it seems to be too oily if I used it for the whole face
