Review : Dr. GL Restore Gel Mask

Product Description
Bring skin back to equilibrium with this restorative gel for all skin types. Packed with healing botanicals to help soothe skin, it makes a particularly good travel companion as skin tends to be stressed by changing environments, manifesting signs of irritation such as redness and dryness.

The Dr. GL Difference
A proprietary blend of natural ingredients including Gardenia Florida extract and Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract heals skin with its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial powers. Its blue hue extracted from Guaiazulene helps counteract redness while its all-natural fragrance exerts a calming influence.

Even though I have only used 2 of Dr. GL products, but I have been won over by the whole experience of using them, in terms of its formula and texture. Hydration has been key in my skincare motto and Dr. GL Restore Gel Mask has been one of those products on my "want" list but it has always been sold out during Luxola 40% storewide sale each time.

Thankfully, I managed to snag it sometime back, with my last resort of kiasu-ism by having it in my cart and check it out, at the first stroke of midnight during one of its most coveted sale. Sadly, Luxola has since been bought over by Sephora, owned by LVMH and I can't tell if Sephora will continue Luxola's 40% storewide sale anytime soon. Luxola has been my top shopping site for beauty products, a must-visit haven for all beauty buffs. Authentic, fresh and cheap, their 40% storewide sale ( excluding selected brands ) is a dream come true for beauty fanatics like us. I bought the mask for $40.80, down from its original $68.

I have a pleasant experience with using the Dr. GL Sun Protection SPF 30 PA++ previously. Despite it being a chemical sunscreen, I still decided to stock it the 2nd time, when Luxola was having its sale.

And with this Dr. GL Restore Gel Mask, I wasn't duly disappointed although I wouldn't pegged it as spectacular, but my skin likes the texture of the gel mask and drinks it up like there's no tomorrow.

The mask can be used as a moisturiser or as a mask but I only used it as a mask so far. It comes in a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser as shown on the picture above. There is a light opacity so one can still see the amount left in the bottle. The pump dispenser makes it easy to dispense the contents and I like the convenience of it.

Made in Korea, the mask has an almost clinical vibe and scent to it. The blue gel has a lightweight gel texture, cooling, soothing and almost calming. It glides well on skin and my dehydrated skin drinks it up, leaving just a sticky finishing on the skin ( no traces of the gel ), once the recommended 20 minutes is up. My skin feels calmed and redness was minimized.

However, I need to use the mask consecutively for several days before my skin is hydrated sufficiently. It is not the type of "rescue me" emergency mask fix, but a good hydrating mask for maintenance. I like the list of impressive ingredients too.
