Review : Weleda Birch Cellulite Oil

Product Description
This fine oil from extracts of young organic birch leaves, organic rosemary and ruskus promotes skin's healthy balance for radiant, firmer-looking skin. Regular use visibly tones and smoothes the skin, helping to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Revitalizing apricot kernel oil and vitamin-packed wheat germ oil help to enliven the skin's appearance.

How to use
Apply a small amount of Birch Cellulite Oil to damp skin. During the first four weeks of use, Birch Cellulite Oil should be massaged into the skin with circular movements, at least twice a day. For ongoing maintenance, continue with the daily application of this body oil.

After reading good reviews on Iherb, I decided to pick this up for some toning and cellulite-busting on my thighs. Touted to improve skin tone and appearance, cellulite is supposed to get visibly toned down after just one month of usage with this revitalizing oil

It contains pure natural and organic plant extracts to smooth, tone and support your skin’s overall health. It is a certified natural skin care, free of synthetic preservatives, fragrances, colorants, free of raw materials derived from mineral oil.

With a potent extract of organic birch leaves, known for its purifying and detoxifying effects, the birch oil promotes radiant skin with noticeably improved texture and smoothness. Dermatological tests show a 21% increase in smoothness and a 22% increase in tightness after just one month of twice a day regular use.
Apricot kernel oil, skin-friendly organic jojoba seed oil and vitamin-rich wheat germ oil nourish your skin, balance essential moisture and enliven your appearance.
Sounds lovely, isn't it?

Key Ingredient
Birch (Betula Alba) : Commonly referred to as Birch, the leaves and bark from which the extract is derived come from the Birch Tree. Birch is known for its purifying and detoxifying effects. The plant encourages the excretion of fluids and promotes metabolic activities.

I am not a fan of oil, either for the face or for the body, because of the messiness, greasiness and stickiness. Still, despite being relatively more expensive and a brand which I have not try before, I decided to pick it up due to the raving online reviews.

I am usually skeptical of lotions and potions that claim to be able to reduce cellulite because it certainly sounds too easy to be true. I usually apply it after shower when the skin is still damp. I use either up-stroking movements or circular massages on the back of my thighs on an almost daily basis in the evenings.
The smell is really pleasant and my skin stayed smooth till the next bath.

The texture of the oil is thick and greasy. Some folks have mentioned it to be massaged onto the skin for up to 5 minutes but the product description on the glass bottle did not say much and so I usually massage it for just a minute or so. I don't use alot, but enough for both of my thighs. About 2 fifty cents coins quantity.

And because the bottle is made of glass, it pays to be careful when your hands are slippery due to the oil, because its not cheap stuff. I bought it for US$20.74 on Iherb. You can use OKI787 to get up to $10 off your first purchase or direct purchase from here.

It took awhile to get absorbed into the skin and by then, I have already smeared some of it on the computer chair I was sitting on. Not a pleasant sight, though the greasy stain did disappear from the chair after awhile, without leaving any messiness or stains in its place.

I have been using it for slightly more than a month. I like that its natural, moisturises the skin, made it smooth and my hubby commented that my bums looked slightly firmer too.

It scored 4.1 from 72 users on Makeupalley.
