My aunt visited some Scandinavia countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland) recently and bought a bottle of Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Dry Skin Cocktail for me. I used to steer away from facial oils, due to my combination skin but has lately incorporated them into my skincare regime.
Occasionally, I have been told that my skin has a lack of radiance and when that happens, I will switch my skincare around - at any one time, I will have anti-aging, whitening and hydrating skincare products in my beauty arsenal. I usually use hydrating products in the day and leave the anti-aging and whitening products at night. But note that, I will start a new product only after the last one ended because I absolutely hate to waste products and it is also one way for me to see if that skincare product works for me. If you switch brands and products too often, it may cause some reactive reactions on your skin and it would also be difficult to pinpoint which product gives you the problem.
I started on Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Dry Skin Cocktail after my love affair with SKII Stempower Essence ended. It comes in a clear glass bottle, where you can see a stark contrast of 2 coloured contents like what a dual phase serum usually looks like. A shake of the bottle is required, to get the contents mixed up properly before dispensing them out from the spritz.
With radiance as my main focus, I was keen to see how this product fares on my skin. Lumene is a relatively unknown brand in Singapore, as it is not easily available. Their key markets are in Finland, Scandinavia, USA and Russia.
Based in Finland, Lumene is known to be a popular drugstore brand because of its affordability and the usage of Arctic berries such as Arctic Blueberry, Arctic Cloudberry, Arctic Lingonberry, Arctic Rosehip, Arctic Raspberry and Arctic Sea Buckthorn where Arctic Cloudberry and Arctic Sea Buckthorn are used in each bottle of Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Dry Skin Cocktail.
Formulated without parabens, formaldehyde donors and mineral oil, the visual appearance of Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Dry Skin Cocktail looks good and bright and the scent reminds me of oranges. However, the texture is slightly oily and left a shiny layer on skin which I really dislike. Even with an added spray mist which I used in the form of SKII Facial Treatment Essence, there is still that shiny look on my face.
The consistency looks thick, from the bottle but once dispensed via the spritz, it is actually pretty runny but slightly greasy.
This slightly greasy texture from Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Dry Skin Cocktail takes a long while to get absorbed into the skin and when it finally did, my skin does feel soft and smooth to the touch but I still can't get rid of the "shiny" look on the face.
And it turned out that I have been using too much! In fact, only a less than "10 cent" coin amount is sufficient for the whole face. It gets absorbed into the skin faster, leaving a "less tired" visual outlook in its place. Unfortunately, I have to battle with some oil seeds on my cheeks due to my over zealous application previously. I did not face much dehydration issue on my skin, so the hydration ability, on its own was pretty good.
With Vitamin C ( Ascorbyl Palmitate and Ascorbic Acid ) in the ingredient list, I am concerned that the contents are stored in a clear bottle. Ascorbyl Palmitate, much like L-ascorbic acid must be carefully looked after and stored away from sunlight and air as this form of vitamin tends to degrade pretty quickly. Frequent usage and in large doses are recommended in order to achieve the effects of collagen boosting.
